Sue Curry, home manager was nominated and shortlisted by the judging panel as a finalist for the Heart of Peninsula Care Award in the category of Care Home Manager of the Year in the run up to the festive period.  Sue was runner-up on this occasion but still had a fabulous time at the awards evening.  Highlights on the night were a drinks reception and UTV’s Julian Simmons as host, comedy by Gene Fitzpatrick and The Voice favourite Conor Scott performed live.

Early Christmas gifts at Kingsland…Two nurses from Romania joined the Kingsland team in November 2015.  Titus and Alexandra who are engaged and planning to marry in May 2016 started their induction at Kingsland and are becoming accustomed to our Northern Irish ways!  The couple have settled in very well and will soon be joined by another colleague in 2016.

The Girl Guides sang on 3rd December and a Christmas Craft Fair was held on Saturday 5th December to raise money for the Resident Comfort Fund.  On the day there were stalls, food and a raffle with plenty of prizes to be won including a wonderful hamper which staff and relatives contributed towards.  Not forgetting the party which all looked forward to and that was of course the Christmas Party on 22nd December which brought everyone together in festive cheer!

Further to the recent announcement by the Health Minister, facilitating contact with your loved ones will need to be formally risk assessed to ensure that visiting can happen in the safest way possible. Guidelines have just been received which will need to be considered carefully. Communication around how the organisation will commence visiting will be issued at the start of next week.

Visiting will remained closed until then, however we would encourage virtual visiting and telephone contact with the Homes to continue, as we know that this has worked really well so far. Our main focus will always be the safety of all residents and staff within our care. Our staff teams have been superb and continue to demonstrate their dedication and commitment in keeping your loved ones protected at this time.

Many thanks for your continued support, understanding and patience.
