Kelly Withers began working for Care Circle Group in May 2014 as PA to Directors having previously been employed within the financial services sector for a number of high profile firms. In her own right she is ILM, CII and Microsoft Office Specialist qualified, making her adequately equipped for both present and past roles with a total of 20 years administration experience.
Kelly’s move to within the private healthcare sector was an exciting challenge, her only real taste of the healthcare sector was a 2 year stint as a GP’s medical secretary early on in her career.
“My varied role led me to want to refresh my skills as it had been some time since completing any training courses and I thought now was the perfect time…I applied and was accepted onto the LCCI Level 3 Private Secretary’s Diploma. Numbers were limited, only two colleges throughout Northern Ireland offered the course and I was thrilled to be offered a place on the course at SERC, Lisburn Campus in June 2015. Unfortunately the course was cancelled last minute in September 2015. In my eagerness still to complete the course, I contacted Belfast Met whom also offered the course…however all places were filled. I made sure that wasn’t the end of the story, I scoured the internet for a similar course, the Open University and various other professional body websites. My search paid off, Open Study College offered the Level 3 Personal Assistant Course awarded by NCFE. Open Study College provided the course over a 12 month period and I could complete study blocks and assignments at times that suited me. I successfully completed the course with an overall distinction grade in just short of 4 months having started in October 2015 and finished in January 2016. I have just recently received my Certificate from Open Study College and am pleased with my achievement”.
Kelly found that the course was an invaluable tool which has reinforced many of the duties and areas she is responsible for, topics covered included: Organising and Managing an Office with emphasis on Health & Safety, Compilation of Business Documents, Event Planning, Planning Meetings, Communication and Recruitment of Staff.
“I work at Head Office with 12 other members of staff, the Group have 12 care centres, my role is diverse, challenging and fulfilling, the course helped me to better understand my role as a PA within a large organisation”.
